With the announcement of further advanced school business management roles, Matthew Jane reflects on a job well done

Isn't it nice to hear when you're doing a good job and really making a difference? This week we read about the latest developments in the NCSL's school business management programme, where the new advanced school business managers (ASBM) and school business directors (SBD) models are to be rolled out across a further 12 projects.

We already know the vital role school business managers are playing in schools around the country. Our model is the envy of other countries and it is easy to see why. The latest research shows that your efforts can free up to 30 per cent of headteachers time.

I have met many business managers and bursars whilst working at Ed Exec, with many initiatives and ideas - all aimed towards one simple goal of improving the life chances and experiences of children.

Whether it is hunting down a great deal on printer paper, sourcing sponsorship for a building project or manning an after school club, the school business manager role is all-encompassing and varied with massive rewards for schools and pupils.

With the NCSLs new projects comes exciting possibilities for school business managers. There is no limit to the results that can be achieved through schools investing in a good business manager.

Well done guys, keep up the good work.
