So you've just enjoyed two weeks spent in the garden enjoying afternoon Pimms in the sunshine, an Easter weekend where everything went to plan, the family were happy and nobody overdid the chocolate and came crying when they got an upset stomach.
Yes, this is a fantasy scenario and I'm sure very few of you will be able to relate to the first two words of this blog, let alone the utopian view of a painless holiday.
I imagine most of you were in school for at least part of the Easter holiday? As nice as it is to have the children and colleagues livening up the school corridors, it is an even more welcome blessing when the silence descends and you can finally finish that filing, complete those spreadsheets and order forms.
I was in Nottinghamshire in the first week of the holiday where I met business manager Jane Hill who was making the most of an empty school. The silence really was deafening as we sat in her office to have a chat. She was taking full advantage of the lack of interruptions to make a dent in the ‘to do' list.
I'm sure your school will be straight back into the hustle and bustle of the new term, with exams approaching and the prospect of a long holiday at the end, the summer term is certainly a vibrant time.
I hope you all feel refreshed from the two weeks (or however long you managed to take off). Enjoy the new term. Just keep thinking of those long, warm summer days just around the corner, no unexpected rainfall, no last minute exam headaches, everything going to plan. Oh, that's the fantasy scenario again...
