So the Christmas trees have been shredded, the chorus of Auld Lang Syne is no longer ringing in our ears, the hangovers have cleared, and many of you have finally managed to get into work after days of snow-induced inactivity.
The school calendar is certainly in full flow and the excitement of the festive holidays are a distant memory. So with Easter still teasingly far away and the warmth of summer a mere pipe dream, what do we have to look forward to in the near future?
Well, my calendar has had a big highlighter line drawn through the latter part of next week for some time now as I prepare for the excitement of the Bett Show at London's Olympia. Having been to previous Bett Shows, I am well aware of the buzz that greets visitors on entry into the enormous arena. There is the chance to try out those funky gadgets that you will have seen pupils playing with and the opportunity to quiz manufacturers directly about the products on display. It is also a great chance to network with peers and share some top tips and advice.
While the prospect of taking time out of the office may seem like a daunting one as you inevitably look across a sea of papers and files, the show only comes once a year and the opportunities it presents are well worth a day away from the desk.
One reason why I am particularly looking forward to this year's Bett Show is the new and exciting ways that Ed Exec will be covering the event. We will be doing podcasts, videos and blogging live from the event, which is sure to keep me busy, but should prove lots of fun and hopefully very informative, helping keep those who cant make it along in the loop.
My top tip for the day? Wear comfortable shoes that you have thoroughly broken in. After last year, I felt like a marathon runner by the end of the day, so be prepared to cover a fair bit of ground!
