Parental Engagement is high on the Government agenda, with real recognition that actively engaging parents leads to improved performance in the classroom. However, there are many challenges to involving parents in their children's education. Raising awareness, apathy and the ability to reach the disengaged are just some of the barriers that must be overcome. Innovation and good practice are essential if these objectives are to be met.
Capita's National Conference focusing exclusively on the Engagement of Parents in Education will bring together a wide range of case studies at both primary and secondary level to give delegates the chance to learn from the experiences of other schools throughout the country. Areas of focus include:
Engaging fathers and the importance of role models
Getting parents "in the door" in areas of deprivation and disengagement
Using ICT to bring engagement into the 21st Century
