The BBC contacted every local authority and asked if they were on the Government's list of 200 schools to become academies
BBC Radio 4's show The Report got in touch with local authorities across the country to ask if any of their schools were on the Government's list of 200 worst performing primary schools it intends on converting to academy status.
The Department for Education had previously refused to release a list of the schools, but the Radio 4 show managed to compile its own near-complete list by contacting every single local education authority.
The responses received by The Report outlined 173 of the 200 schools on the government's list of proposed academies.
Bristol was reported to have the highest number of schools on the list with 13 primaries in total. Next was Birmingham with 12 primary schools on the list, followed by Lancashire with eight schools and Kent with seven.
Some local authorities would not disclose whether or not any of their primary schools were listed, these included West Sussex and Wiltshire.
