North East school receives good report

A North East school is celebrating a glowing report from Ofsted, just after being given notice to improve.

Farringdon Primary school in Sunderland was praised as good and improving after their latest inspection.

The school was given the second highest rating available in every category of the report.

Ofsted inspectors had previously said that students' achievement and standards at the school were inadequate.

Headteacher Ann Henderson said: "Everyone is obviously delighted by the news, after we all worked so hard together in partnership with parents, children and local community to face the challenges we faced and turn the school around in such a short time
.
"Our children deserve the very best, and the fact that the Ofsted inspectors made special mention of their outstanding behaviour makes us all especially proud.

"Another pleasing fact is that the school is not only praised for its efforts within class, but also for its before and after-school activities and the range of regular visitors who help enrich the curriculum and school experience for all our children," said Henderson.
