TechSmith Releases Update to Camtasia Relay

Released 07/05/2010

New version of lesson capture software includes new features to enhance flexibility and ease-of-use.

TechSmith Corp., the world’s leading provider of screen capture and recording tools, today announces the release of Camtasia Relay 2. The new version is free for existing customers and includes speech to text audio search, greater sharing capabilities for captured lessons and improved management for administrators amongst its new features.

Camtasia Relay is a server-based lesson capturing and recording tool that can be used to build a digital archive of lessons. It has been designed to seamlessly integrate with a school's existing IT infrastructure. Camtasia Relay consists of a recorder application that runs on a teacher's PC or Mac and allows them to record exactly what is happening on their computer screen, from mouse clicks and typing through to how they interact with applications. Any audio such as speech can also be captured alongside the on-screen activity, allowing lessons to be recorded exactly how they are presented in the classroom. These recordings are then automatically uploaded on to a central system to be downloaded by other teachers and pupils.

New features of Camtasia Relay include:

·           Text and audio indexing: viewers can search for specific content by either the audio or text associated with a specific slide

·           Enhanced sharing options: users can now reach wider audiences with support for two learning management systems: Silverlight and Moodle.

·           Contents table: Contents with thumbnail views are automatically generated for ease of navigation in PowerPoint and Keynote

·           Enhanced directory integration: It is now easier to manage users and profiles making it quicker to roll the recording software out to new staff or guest presenters

·           At-a-glance view panel: Shows details of all audio recording options available, making it easier to select the best device.

·           Presenter display window: Shows the length of the recording so presentations can be better managed and the overall user experience is improved.
