NEC Display Solutions presents projectors for economical 3D imaging.

The NP115 and NP210 projectors from NEC Display Solutions are now capable of displaying images in 3D. The new NP216 model is due to be launched in June. Their DLP® Link technology with a refresh rate of 120Hz allows 3D images to be projected with the aid of a single projector and active glasses. Special screens and filters are not required, similarly an emitter to synchronise the glasses is not required. This inexpensive 3D projection system will benefit users in many areas for instance education, engineering, architecture and design.

Traditional 3D projection technology requires two projectors, one for the left eye and one for the right. Both devices must be precisely aligned in a time-consuming process and users require special filters and potentially also a special screen. In the educational sector, this process is often too expensive and the set-up is too sophisticated. With DLP® Link technology, a single projector produces the images for both eyes. The impression of 3D is created by the interaction with the active LCD shutter glasses. This solution is cheaper and more user-friendly than traditional 3D stereoprojection.

The NP115, NP210 and NP216 feature low power consumption which can be reduced even further using the Eco mode. A carbon savings meter calculates the amount of CO2 saved as a result, encouraging users to switch to energy-saving operation. The Eco mode operation also increases lamp life to up to 5,000 hours. This ensures an excellent price/performance ratio and low total cost of ownership. Users who only plan to use three-dimensional material at a later point in time can be assured of a future-proof investment with these projectors.

The XGA models, NP210 and NP216, are TCO-certified. This independent third party certificate proves that they meet stringent environmental and ergonomic standards and underlines NEC Display Solutions' commitment to eco-friendly technology leadership embodied in its Green Vision initiative. Both projectors feature an integrated RJ45 interface, facilitating rapid and simple LAN connectivity.

From June 2010, NEC Display Solutions will additionally be offering a special 3D starter kit. It includes active 3D glasses and award winning 3D content and software for easy access to a first 3D experience. NEC partners with a number of market leading content providers in the area of education, simulation, engineering and design. One highlight will be a full version of the well-established stereoscopic player from 3dtv for playing 3D movies and pictures.
